Scholarships and Educational Opportunities

Through the generosity of the Vice President for Student Life and on-going efforts in fund raising to provide Indigenous/Native American/First Nations students with secure finances the Indigenous Alliance has awarded two scholarships totalling $1500 to each recipient for the 2017 - 2018 academic year. Please read below about the K-State Native American Indigenous Scholarship and to apply.

ABOUT INDIGENOUS ALLIANCE

Kansas State University’s Indigenous Alliance is an organization established as a group of interested and active students, faculty and staff at K-State University. The goals of the KSU Indigenous Alliance is to support and facilitate initiatives to increase recruitment and retention of Native American students, faculty and staff at K-State University.

SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION

The Indigenous Alliance Native American Indigenous Scholarship is a one-year $1500 scholarship awarded to a new first year and/or transferring student, who is supportive of Native American or Indigenous activities at K-State University.

The scholarship is funded by K-State’s Division of Student Life in support of recruitment and retention for Native American or Indigenous students who demonstrate a vision of leadership in their community. Must be enrolled full-time for both fall and spring semesters studying at K-State University.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

  • US Citizen or permanent resident status
  • Native American and Indigenous student planning to attend K-State University in the fall of 2017
  • New and/or transferring K-State student
  • Enrolled full-time student

REQUIREMENTS

Scholarship recipients are encouraged to assist with two Indigenous Alliance events and represent Indigenous perspectives at one larger multicultural event.

The Indigenous Alliance will conduct the selection process and scholarship recipients will be promptly notified via postal mail. The Indigenous Alliance Native American Scholarship is funded by Kansas State University’s Division of Student Life in support of recruitment and retention of Native American Indigenous students at K-State.
