Welcome to the official home of Greek Week 2009!
The Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils are excited to bring you Greek Week 2009, April 13-17. Thanks to the sponsorship of TGI Greek, Greek Week 2009 promises to be a Greek Week unlike any other at K-State. It is the hope of the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils Greek Week 2009 is truly a celebration of being Greek at K-State and that during this week, the best in teamship, community, spirit, and competition can be found within the community.

The Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils are excited to announce the official sponsor of Greek Week 2009: TGI Greek. TGI is a leader in providing apparel and promotional products to fraternities and sororities. TGI believes in making their clients look great!
Teams
Each chapter will take part in events as a chapter, not paired with another chapter as in homecoming. Two dividisions will be hosted, a soroity division and a fraternity division.
2009 Greek Spirit Items
You may not be aware Greek Week is 100% independently funded. That's why the sponsorship of TGI is so important to us! Too, it's important we have the support and sponsorship of you and your sisters/brothers. The official Greek Week 2009 spirit item is a purple wristband embossed with "be you. be greek." (like the popular "Live strong" bracelets).
Wristbands will cost $6.00 each (a decrease from last year's spirit item) and may be purchased in the Greek Affairs office. Purchasing a wristband earns Greek Week points for your chapter and allows you free lunch in Water's Quad Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as well as free access to Greek Olympics and Greek Idol! Your purchase is totally worth it!
Chapters may pre-order Greek Week 2009 wristbands in the Greek Affairs Office until Friday, April 10 at noon. (Download the order form.) It is preferred each chapter submit their order with one check from the chapter treasury. All pre-ordered wristbands must be picked up in Greek Affairs by Friday, April 10 at noon.
New Member Council All-Greek T-Shirt
As part of the Greek Week 2009 celebration, the New Member Council has gotten onboard and is selling a All-Greek T-shirt. Shirts cost $10.00 each and may be purchased in the Greek Affairs office or at any of the Greek Week events. Unfortunately these shirts do not gain you free access to any of the events or earn your chapter Greek Week points, but you will look great in them!

All Greek Week 2009 Spirit items have been purchased through TGI, our official sponsor, and secured at special pricing just for K-State! TGI will be at Greek Idol on Wednesday night, April 15, to share with you about an exciting opportunity they have for your chapter's Homecoming 2009 products. Don't miss seeing TGI's new products!
Greek Week 2009 Schedule
April 6-9
Blood Drive
Earn points for your chapter and save a life all at the same time. Greek Week 2009 will help support the all-university blood drive by encouraging your participation. Blood drive will run from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, in the K-State Student Union. (Those wishing to donate during the evening hours may do so at Putnam Hall 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.) For each person signing in as a representative of your chapter, your chapter gets a point. Points are awarded for donors, volunteers, and even referrals. Don't like to donate blood? Can't donate? Ask a friend to attend in your place - just make sure they let the host know you referred them!

This event will include the a special presentation by TGI, Order of Omega, and the drawing for Homecoming 2009 pairings!
Order of Omega will collect canned food as part of their Cats for Cans charity.

Greek Awards
K-State Alumni Center, 6:30 p.m.
Greek Awards and Contribution Awards will be offered.
Each chapter may send up to 5 representatives.
How to earn points
The following Greek Week 2009 awards will be offered: the Greek Idol Award, top participation award for Blood Drive (sorority and fraternity division), Greek Olympics winner (sorority and fraternity division), overall participation and spirit award (sorority and fraternity division).
Each chapter may earn points for the overall participation and spirit award by taking part in the following:
- Purchasing the official Greek Week 2009 spirit item. (1 point)
- Donating, volunteering or referring to the Blood Drive. (1 point)
- Attending the All-Greek lunch on Tuesday. (1 point)
- Attending Greek Olympics. (1 point)
- Attending the All-Greek lunch on Wednesday. (1 point)
- Attending Greek Idol. (1 point)
- Attending the All-Greek lunch on Thursday. (1 point)
- Submitting to "Speak about being Greek!" (1 point)
Each chapter will be giving a "total points possible" based upon their Spring PHC/IFC billing number. A percentage of participation will then be figured. Chapters may have greater than 100% participation for some events (such as Blood Drive should the chapter referral non-members). All percentages will be added up, and the chapter with the highest end score will then be recognized as the winning chapter.
For example, should your chapter have 150 members, at each event you chapter may have at least 100 persons participate. Should you chapter have 75 purchase the official Greek Week 2009 spirit item (50%), 50 attend Greek Olympics (33%), and 82 attend Greek Idol (55%). Your chapters overall score would be138.

Speak about being Greek!
We want to hear form you! What does "be you. be greek." mean to you? We invite any member of the K-State Greek community to submit their response to this question is any electronic format they see fit (text, video, audio, image, etc). All submissions will then be posted on the Greek Affairs website and used in Greek Affairs promotional materials. All submissions must include the name, year, hometown and chapter of the person submitting the response. Points will only be awarded for sincere responses.
