Academics success and scholarship

Your fraternity and sorority experience will help you make the academic transition from high school to college. Although the classes you took in high school were undoubtedly difficult, much more will be demanded of you in college. For most college freshmen, this transition is very challenging.

Greek chapters play an important role in assuring the academic success of their new members. Most fraternities require that members participate in a certain amount of study hours, and they encourage you to plan additional study hours on your own. All set minimum expectations for academic achievement and require members to maintain or exceed a grade point average above the minimum to continue membership.

Older members in the chapter are always willing and able to help you with your classes. This is an advantage unique to the fraternity system. Many chapters have academic resources such as computers, quiet study rooms, libraries, and scholarships to assist in the pursuit of academic excellence.

The academic portion of your college life is no doubt the greatest determining factor for future success. Employers look for students who have achieved academic success along with their extracurricular involvement. Fraternities and sororities have made important contributions in this respect to the lives of many students. We hope you, too, will decide to take advantage of the benefits.
