Welcome, Parents and Families

As your student makes the transition from high school to college, the Greek community at Kansas State University can provide a valuable network of support. We’ve had a solid Greek system at K-State for more than 90 years.

By joining a Greek chapter, your son or daughter will gain scholastic support from chapter members, opportunities for campus and chapter leadership, community service and volunteer experience, networking relationships with alumni, and close friendships with chapter members.

Academics

Academic success is the top priority of K-State's Greek system. Your student will benefit from the scholastic programs and tutoring, as well as other programs to help them excel in academics. All-fraternity and all-sorority average GPAs are consistently above the all-university undergraduate average and have never fallen below that mark in the last 20 years. Through a strong commitment to academic excellence, Greeks are consistently leading the way at Kansas State University.

Home away from home

Chapter houses are more than just houses. They are homes. Each house has community dining, recreational rooms, and formal living areas.

  • Chapter houses are occupied by 13 to 86 members each.
  • Most houses have a live-in director, called a house mom.
  • All houses are approved living units.
  • All houses are located near the main campus.
  • Houses provide a small group setting within the larger campus.
  • Some organizations do not occupy living units.

Parents days

Many chapters at K-State host Parents Day or Parents Weekend activities. Chapter events are popular because they allow you, the parent, to visit your student during the academic year, meet other parents, and spend the weekend at the university. Many chapters have a parents club for parents to get involved with their students' chapter, providing funds for chapters to use towards furniture, computers, and snacks for finals week.

Networking

Greek alumni organizations can provide your student with a strong system of support after college. Many chapters provide connections within the community through jobs and internships. This networking opens doors to students for post-college opportunities all over the nation and the world.
