A postdoctoral Research Associate position in the area of Computational Biophysics will be available in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Kansas State University. The selected candidate will be expected to be heavily involved in developing and performing multi- scale simulations of protein assembly and amyloid growth. This is a joint research project between the Chen Group and the Schmit Group (KSU Physics). S/He will also have the opportunity to work on additional projects of mutual interest to the Chen and/or Schmit labs. For information on our current research interests and topics, please refer to our group webpages: http://www.k-state.edu/bmb/labs/jc and http://www.phys.ksu.edu/personal/schmit.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, or a related field
  • Extensive experience with at least one of the major biomolecular modeling packages
  • Published articles in biomolecular modeling and simulation

Successful applicants should also have strong background in statistical mechanics and display excellent general knowledge and understanding of biophysics, computation and biomolecular modeling. An ideal candidate would be technically competent, with excellent computational skills, and strong programming and scripting ability. S/He should also display exceptional motivation with a passion for science, and the ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a team. Good oral and written communication skills are essential.
