September 16: Effective Web Searching - Jason Coleman (KSU Libraries) - There is a wealth of information on the internet. The question is, how do you find what you are looking for in the most effective and efficient way? This session will cover effective strategies for researching information on the internet. We will cover how to get the most out of Google as well as looking at unique and useful features of some of its competitors.

September 23: The Amazing World of Blogs - Mike Ribble (Education) - Blogs have become the hot new way for users to communicate with each other. Many people hear about blogs but are not real sure what they are or what they do. This session will look at the background of blogs, how to create them and their place in education. There will also be some discussion on how blogs are changing into new media directions.


September 30: What is Instant Messaging? - Cathy Rodriguez (iTAC) - You’ve been trying to get a hold of your boss for hours. You know they are in their office, but that’s in another building! Their phone has been busy all morning and you know they haven’t even touched their e-mail yet! You just need one little piece of information to finish your report. What do you do? Instant Messaging to the rescue! Instant Messaging is another communication tool that allows you to have a real-time conversation (chat session) with your co-workers, friends, or family. Come and learn about the features and how-to’s of instant messaging!


October 7: Audio Presentations and PodCasting - Ernie Perez (iTAC) - Do you ever wonder how to get audio into your presentations? Is it complicated? Come find out how to incorporate audio into PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. You will also learn how to create Pod Cast (publishing audio broadcasts via the internet) for use in classes as a content delivery method.


October 14: Teaching to Your Students’ Brains - Kathy Wright (IET) - What research tells us about using PowerPoint.


October 21: Free Graphics Tools: J-Album & Serif Photo Plus - Gary Kepka (IET) - Create online photo albums and edit photos quickly & easily with these free tools.

October 28: Adobe Photoshop Overview - Pat Hackenberg (Communications) - Come learn Photoshop’s capabilities, including the various tools and basic image editing tips for improving digital photos.


November 4: The Feature-packed Firefox Web Browser - Scott Finkeldei (Mediated Ed.) - Learn how Firefox (a relatively new web browser) can provide a lightweight, safe internet browsing experience. Also learn how its Extensions can provide you with only the features you want and need, and none of the ones you don’t.


November 11: Getting the Most Out of Your Digital Camera - Gerry Snyder (Communications) - Digital cameras have renewed interest in photography due to no cost for film or processing. However, these cameras have become miniature computers with more functions than most people want or need. We will discuss what is important to know to get the most out of these little marvels.
