Media advisory: K-State Salina, NOAA signing collaboration agreement; U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran to attend

Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021

SALINA — Representatives from Kansas State University Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus and the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration will sign an agreement to collaborate on a first-of-its-kind program to prepare students to serve as officers and pilots with the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps, or NOAA Corps, one of the nation's eight uniformed services.

Under the agreement, NOAA and K-State Salina will develop an undergraduate program to equip students with the science, technology, engineering and math skills required to join the NOAA Corps. The new program, to be offered exclusively at the K-State Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus, will include dynamic flight training.

The signing will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in the K-State Salina aircraft maintenance hangar, 2310 Centennial Road. Members of the media are welcome to attend.

Taking part in the signing will be Rear Adm. Nancy Hann, NOAA, and Alysia Starkey, dean and CEO of K-State Salina. Also attending will be U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran, Kansas.
