SafeZone At-Risk Training
1-3 p.m., 206 K-State Student Union. At-Risk is a Web-based gatekeeper training simulation designed to teach faculty and staff to effectively identify, approach and refer students struggling or in mental distress. Users learn by engaging in simulated conversations with virtual students who show symptoms of depression, anxiety, paranoia and thoughts of suicide. Registration runs from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., today through Thursday, Bluemont Hall lobby. Cost is $20, including lunch. Six professional development hours will be given for attending all the sessions. Topics include identifying and working with hard-to-reach students, love and logic, student motivation, understanding your first teaching contract, and more.
