Gate History

The gate design was the winner of a student competition, won by Marcia K. Bascom. She worked alongside K-State landscape architects to refine the details and oversee the construction process. The project was funded through a bequest from Anna V. Higinbotham, who requested that the design be selected through a student competition. Additionally, the flagpole and gate spotlights were donated in memory of Helen R. McIntosh. Further support came from various groups and companies that contributed labor and materials.
