Frequently asked questions
I currently waive coverage for 2017. I want to waive coverage for 2018. What do I need to do?
Nothing. Your waived coverage will remain in 2018.
I have coverage in 2017, but I choose not to select a plan for coverage in 2018. What happens?
The State Employee Health Plan, or SEHP, will default your coverage in 2018 to Plan N. In addition to Plan N, your coverage will include a health reimbursement account, or HRA. The carrier and coverage level you selected in 2017 would remain the same.
I am enrolled in Plans J or Q and am eligible to earn additional HealthQuest funding. How do I receive this funding?
Employees enrolled in Plans J or Q will be required to enroll in a health reimbursement account, or HRA, during open online enrollment. This is required in order to receive and hold the earned HealthQuest dollars.
Do all plans provide for preventive services?
Yes. All plans cover preventive exams at 100 percent.
If I am a new employee and my initial coverage does not begin until November or December, do I need to complete open enrollment for 2018?
Yes. From October 1 through the end of the calendar year, there will be both an initial enrollment portal for 2017 coverage and an open enrollment portal for 2018 coverage open simultaneously. To ensure you have coverage for the remainder of 2017, you will need to complete the initial enrollment process. To ensure you have coverage for the 2018 calendar year, you will need to complete the open enrollment process.
There is not a price difference in carriers, Aetna or Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. What is the difference?
The network of physicians may be different based on the carrier you select. We recommend you view each carrier's network to find your physicians.
