GRADUATE STUDENT SUCCESS
Help promote Graduate Student Welcome and Orientation
- The Graduate School was pleased to have 60 participants in the GTA/GRA/GA orientation
and approximately 100 participants in the New Graduate Student Orientation Zoom sessions
on July 20! As a reminder, these sessions are scheduled to be repeated on August 4.
- We also invite new and returning graduate students to join us for a Graduate Student
Experience Welcome session on August 18 (in-person and via Zoom).
- Students can register through the time of the sessions to receive Zoom access. The
Graduate School’s sessions on July 20, August 4, and August 18 are being recorded.
Students who are unable to join live do not need to register. Recordings will be made
available to all students, and we will share information about accessing the recordings
through our communication channels.
- Several other welcome and orientation activities are being offered by other units.
Details about all activities for graduate students can be found on the Graduate School’s
orientation webpage.
Graduate Student Ambassadors are welcoming connection for prospective students
This summer, the Graduate School welcomed nine new graduate student ambassadors, bringing
the total to 21 ambassadors. Our ambassadors are a diverse group of masters and doctoral
students. They represent 18 graduate programs across six academic colleges and come
from six states in the U.S. and seven countries outside the U.S. Most ambassadors
are studying on K-State’s Manhattan campus, but a few are in online or Olathe Campus
programs. Some ambassadors are first generation students, non-traditional students,
parents, or veterans. These students play a valuable role in serving as a welcoming
point of contact for prospective and incoming students by responding to email inquiries
about the K-State graduate student experience and providing campus tours. Meet the
Graduate Student Ambassadors!
August 13 summer graduation deadline approaching
Masters and doctoral students planning to graduate in Summer 2021 must complete all
requirements by August 13. Students and their major professors are encouraged to refer
to the Graduate School’s graduation checklist for summer 2021 to make sure all requirements are completed to graduate in August.
