Graduate FacultyNominate a graduate student for University Distinguished Professors Graduate Student AwardThe Graduate School is accepting applications for the University Distinguished Professors Graduate Student Award. Eligible graduate students must be admitted to candidacy, entering the last year of his or her doctoral degree program,be enrolled in Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 and plan to graduate in May or August 2018. Submission deadline is April 3. Nominate your GTA and GRAs for Golden Key International Honour Society awardsGolden Key International Honour Society is sponsoring two awards recognizing both graduate teaching assistants and graduate research assistants. They recognize that GTAs and GRAs dedicate countless hours to their field working with students, faculty, and/or in a lab. Golden Key would like to take the opportunity to recognize graduate students for their many accomplishments and award one Outstanding GTA and GRA of the Year Award. To nominate a graduate assistant for the Golden Key GTA or GRA award, complete this form, and send in your nominee's CV to anne12@ksu.edu by April 10. Recognize your graduate students by submitting their accomplishment to GSCThe Awards and Recognition Committee of the Graduate Student Council is looking to honor graduate students who've made notable scholarly achievements from October 15, 2016 to March 15, 2017. Examples of accomplishments could include receiving an award at a conference or research forum, or making an exceptional contribution to research within their discipline. The Spring 2017 Nomination Deadline is Monday, March 20. Support graduate student research by signing up to be a judge for the K-State GRAD ForumThe Graduate Student Council is calling for faculty members to serve as judges for the annual K-State Graduate Research, Arts, and Discovery (GRAD) Forum. Complete a brief volunteer form to indicate times you are available on March 30. Poster and oral presentation sessions will be held throughout the day. Graduate Program Directors and Contact StaffGraduate School office moving to Eisenhower HallThe Graduate School office will be moving from Fairchild Hall room 103 to Eisenhower Hall suite 117, formerly the Dean's Suite for the College of Arts and Sciences, next week March 20-22. Both spaces in Fairchild Hall and Eisenhower Hall will have staff available to assist with any questions faculty, staff or students might have during this transitional time. Council of Graduate Schools – Resolution regarding Graduate Scholars, Fellows, Trainees and AssistantsStudents that are offered a scholarship, fellowship, assistantship or are trainees are not obligated to respond to any offers for the Fall semester until April 15th. After April 15th the department can rescind the offer and offer to another applicant if they wish. A list of all universities involved in this resolution are listed in the attached document, along with further information. The Retreat provides graduate students time and space to write in a supportive atmosphere and promotes effective writing practices to boost the dissertation and thesis writing process. Application deadline is Tuesday, March 28. The DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program is now accepting applications!The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science is pleased to announce that the Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program is now accepting applications for the 2017 Solicitation 1. The SCGSR program is open to current Ph.D. students in qualified graduate programs at accredited U.S. academic institutions, who are conducting their graduate thesis research in targeted areas of importance to the DOE Office of Science. Applications are due 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday May 16, 2017. Information session for Graduate Student Grant ProgramThe colleges of Agriculture and Engineering are co-sponsoring an information session for the Graduate Student Grant Program made available by North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension (NCR-SARE) at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 28 in Waters 137. Presenters will include Kerri Ebert, Coordinator for the Kansas Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Alternative Crops, and Shay Strubinger, grant specialist for the College of Agriculture and K-State Research & Extension. Kerri will cover specific details and expectations of the SARE opportunity in order to help students and supervising faculty determine the feasibility and suitability of their project ideas to the SARE program.
