Review categoryThis is a difficult review category to describe. Theme relates to the content of the game play (as opposed to mechanics). "High" theme means that the game is rich in worthwhile content. This involves a judgment on my part as to "worthwhile." A game like Tikal (which will soon join our review list) involves exploration on a jungle island and setting up camps. Like most German games, this theme is handled somewhat abstractly. The theme of daring exploration and decision making challenges players. Africa is another great family game that involves exploration of the continent of Africa. "Low" theme means that the content is simply more an abstract exercise in logic and strategy. The rating for theme is more descriptive of a game and is not meant to be an estimation of its worth. An established classic like Chess would be rated as "low" on theme. The importance of the theme rating has to do with your own personal preference.
