Personal web publishing

What is a personal web page?

A web page is a specially formatted computer file created for distribution on the World Wide Web. A personal web page is a web page distributed on behalf of an individual. Every user of K-State's central computing system can have a personal web page.

Two servers are used at K-State for web pages: www.k-state.edu for official (and other non-personal) pages and www-personal.ksu.edu for personal pages.

Personal web pages are stored in the home directory of the responsible individual and are accessed using a URL of the format http://www-personal.ksu.edu/~userid.

What if I have official or organizational information on my personal page?

All K-State departments, offices, functions, or activities that provide information in the course of regular university business can have an official web page hosted on the www.k-state.edu server. See Tools for web publishing for details.
