Data science experts offer weekly consultations for students

Submitted by Madeline Mathis

Mallalah and Shamir

Lior Shamir, associate professor, and Safia Malallah, teaching assistant professor of computer science at the Carl R. Ice College of Engineering, are offering an opportunity to Kansas State University students to enhance their data science skills and project outcomes.

In response to the increasing demand for proficiency in data science across various fields, Shamir and Malallah have launched weekly consultation sessions tailored to students from all departments, regardless of their level of expertise in the field.

Shamir, a leading expert in the field, facilitates the one-hour sessions, providing insights and ensuring individualized attention and assistance for each student. This includes guidance, feedback and support to enhance students' data science projects. Participants are encouraged to come prepared with questions and projects for discussion, fostering interactive and engaging sessions. Whether students are beginners seeking foundational knowledge or experienced data scientists pursuing advanced insights, the consultations are designed to accommodate diverse needs and skill levels.

The sessions occur from 10-11 a.m. every Monday throughout the spring 2024 academic term, in Room 2164 of Engineering Hall.

For those interested in seizing this opportunity or seeking further information, Shamir can be reached at lshamir@k-state.edu, and Malallah at safia@k-state.edu is available to assist with any inquiries.
