Week of Feb. 5: K-State Legislative Update

The 2024 Kansas legislative session is gaining momentum as budget hearings commence in the higher education budget subcommittees. On Thursday, Feb. 1, Kansas Board of Regents President Blake Flanders presented the comprehensive higher education budget for the entire system to the House Committee on Higher Education Budget. In the coming two weeks, university leaders will individually present their budgets to the House and Senate budget subcommittees.
Following the completion of these budget subcommittee presentations, recommendations will be made to the House Committee on Appropriations and the Senate Committee on Ways and Means. Further details on this legislative process will be provided as the session unfolds.
