Request funds to host your event at the Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies

Submitted by Cailin Wycoff

K-State Libraries' Dow Center for Multicultural and Community Studies offers sponsorship funding to campus and community programs that engage with themes of multiculturalism and diversity. Funds for events scheduled before June 30, 2024, are available by request through a form on the Dow Center website.

Curious about the types of programs the Dow Center supports? The following are examples of recently sponsored events:

  • On Feb. 13, 2023, the School of Music, Theatre and Dance presented its "IDEall — Inclusion, Diversity and Equity for all" week, celebrating women in the performing arts.
  • On April 8, 2023, the African Student Union hosted "African Night — An African Wedding," to showcase African culture, heritage and tradition to K-State students and the Manhattan community using this year's wedding party theme.
  • On Aug. 25, 2023, the K-State Alumni Association and the K-State Student Union Programming Council hosted the International Block Party, an event that welcomes students back to campus while uplifting, promoting and celebrating the rich culture students bring to Kansas State University.
  • During the fall 2023 semester, UFM hosted, "Movies on the Grass," which offers the campus and community new films that portray current issues in an informal setting.

Sponsorship funds, which are used at the discretion of the dean of the K-State Libraries, are just one way the Dow Center helps deliver relevant programs and services that advance meaningful understanding and dialogue regarding multiculturalism and diversity.

More information about the Dow Center, its events and how it is making an impact at Kansas State University can be found on the Dow Center website.
