Discover grad student research today at Research and the State
The annual Research and the State graduate student poster forum will be from 10 a.m. to noon and 1:30-3:30 p.m. today, Oct. 24, in the K-State Student Union courtyard. Awards will be presented at 4 p.m. in Room 227 of the Union. An abstract program booklet is available on the Research and the State website.
During the forum, graduate students will present posters explaining their research or scholarly work with the K-State community and talk about the significance of their work for the state of Kansas. This event is an opportunity to learn about the diverse work being conducted by K-State graduate students.
This year's forum also has a new opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to participate and benefit from the forum. Students who attend and provide feedback for one or more presentations will have a chance to win a gift from the Graduate School. Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony. Interacting with presenters and providing feedback also brings other benefits. This gives students an opportunity to build an interdisciplinary peer network and get ideas on how to improve their own work.
Seventy-seven graduate students are registered to present their posters this year, which is a 53 percent increase from last year's participation. Seven colleges and 27 programs will be represented.
Ten presenters will be selected to represent K-State at the annual Capitol Graduate Research Summit, which will be held on March 21, 2024, at the State Capitol Building in Topeka. These 10 students will receive scholarship awards from the Graduate School.
K-State's chapter of Sigma Xi is partnering with the Graduate School and Graduate Student Council to present an additional scholarship award to one of the 10 award winners.
