Chavar is a creative strategist for The New York Times research and development team, exploring and explaining emerging technologies in the pursuit of journalism. His role is defined by his more than 15 years of experience as a highly awarded staff visual journalist at The Washington Post, Apple News, Vox.com and in the Washington bureau of The New York Times, where he covered national politics and the presidency. He is currently the teaching fellow in immersive journalism at Syracuse University's Newhouse School and chairperson of the National Press Photographers Association's storied Best of Photojournalism awards.

Bartzokas is a senior research and development engineer at The New York Times, where he leverages 3D, XR and machine learning technologies to create award-winning immersive stories and cutting-edge tools for journalism. His career has focused on helping people learn through digital experiences. At the American Museum of Natural History, he served as associate director of science visualization and worked on data-driven educational experiences for VR headsets, mobile AR and the Hayden Planetarium. At Sesame Street Workshop, he partnered with IBM Research to prototype new ways of learning with Watson AI.
