Attend Kinesiology Distinguished Lecture Oct. 19

John Jakicic, research professor in the department of internal medicine in the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management at the University of Kansas Medical Center, will present the Fall 2023 Kinesiology Distinguished Lecture.

Jakicic will present "Reversing the Deleterious Effects of Obesity with Weight Loss: Does Physical Activity Play a Role?" at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union.

Jakicic's primary area of research is the study of obesity and body weight regulation and their relationship to chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer and others. He has served on various national and international committees to develop physical activity guidelines for preventing and treating obesity and other chronic conditions. This included being appointed to the 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee.
