Volunteer judges needed for Research and the State
Faculty, staff and postdoctoral fellows are invited to serve as poster judges for the Graduate Student Council’s annual Research and the State graduate student poster forum on Oct. 24 in the K-State Student Union Courtyard.
There is a record number of students — 79 — participating in this year’s forum. Judges play a critical role in the event by providing feedback to presenters, which supports their communication and presentation skills development. Judge evaluations also help select 10 presenters to receive awards and represent K-State at the Capitol Graduate Research Summit, where they will present their research to state legislators at the Capitol Building in March.
The event schedule is as follows:
10 a.m.-noon — Poster presentations.
1:30-3:30 p.m. — Poster presentations.
4 p.m. — Awards ceremony.
Faculty members can still serve as judges if they have students presenting. Faculty members will not be assigned to evaluate their own students.
Volunteers may judge one or both sessions and do not have to be available for the full two hours. However, volunteers need to be available for at least an hour to an hour and a half to complete judging duties.
