2023 Fire Prevention Week

Submitted by Jack Chatmon

The department of environmental health and safety will host this year's Fire Prevention Week from Oct. 9-13. This year's theme is "Cooking Safety." Cooking fires are the number one cause of home fires and injuries.

The schedule for Fire Prevention Week activities:

  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Derby Dining Center.
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Bosco Student Plaza.
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at College Center on the Salina campus.

Activities will include free fire extinguisher training, distribution of educational materials, free giveaways — including activity books and plastic firefighter hats, coupons to K-State Student Union food vendors, and a Manhattan Fire Department firefighter apparatus display.
