The Wildcats Give $10 to Cure Cancer initiative, or WG10-2C, encourages all Wildcats to support K-State cancer research by donating as little as $10 between Sept. 23 and Oct. 28.

Donations will support the nonprofit Johnson Cancer Research Center as they provide faculty and students funds for cancer research. The goal is to raise $200,000. Each donation can be made in memory or in honor of family or friends.

The Johnson Cancer Research Center in the College of Arts and Sciences at K-State supports and advances cancer prevention, detection, treatment and education while training scientists and future scientists. The nonprofit center has competitive award programs, funded through private donations, to help facilitate the requirements of the scientists as well as the students.

Sherry Fleming, director of the Johnson Cancer Research Center, welcomes the WG10-2C. She believes this initiative allows everyone in the Wildcat family to be a part of cancer research right here at K-State.

"We want to include scientists, students and supporters," Fleming said. "Most people want to be a part of the effort but can't give much, and that is okay. If we all give $10, then we will all be a part of funding cancer research here at K-State."

Watch for a special presentation by the Pride of Wildcat Land marching band at the end of halftime on Saturday, Sept. 23, supporting the new initiative.

"The Cure Starts with Us" is the center's slogan. If everyone at K-State, in the Manhattan community and across the state of Kansas gives at least $10, we will reach our goal to support K-State cancer research. Donations can be made online or by scanning the WG10-2C QR code. Also, please share with fellow Wildcats, friends and family.
