K-State senior elected president of national organization

Submitted by Mary Rankin

Casey Bertelsman, senior in architectural engineering, was elected national student body president of the Architectural Engineering Institute for the 2017-18 academic year during the organization's annual conference, April 11-13 in Oklahoma City. She also will serve as the local K-State student chapter president for the next academic year.

Six other architectural engineering majors — Alaina Lee, Kristen Graves, Aoife Callanan, Sam Dempster, Trevyn Sell and Kyle Johnson — attended the conference and student workshop events, along with K-State Architectural Engineering Institute Student Chapter advisers Chris Ahern, assistant professor, and Derek Clements, instructor, both from the architectural engineering and construction science department.

"We would like to congratulate Casey for her great leadership in this international organization, as well as all of our students who attended and represented our department, college and university so well," said Ray Buyle, interim department head of architectural engineering and construction science.
