Adknowledge to present how-to and recruitment talk today

Submitted by Susan Cregg

Adknowledge, the fourth largest advertiser marketplace, will give a how-to and recruitment talk today in 126 Nichols Hall.

The how-to talk will run from 4-5 p.m. Free pizza and soda will be available at 5 p.m. The recruitment talk will run from 5:15-6 p.m.

The how-to talk is titled "Behavioral Targeting with Large Datasets." Behavioral targeting is a technique for selecting advertisements and products that leverages a user's previous history in order to select the most relevant products to display to the user. One of the most cited examples of behavioral targeting is Amazon's "Frequently Bought Together" links underneath the item that one is interested in.

In this talk, Adknowledge representatives will discuss how the data analytics team within the company is able to apply machine learning, distributed computing and statistical analysis to terabytes of data in order to improve behavioral targeting and increase profits at Adknowledge.

Adknowledge specializes in performance based-marketing solutions that help make the long tail web accessible to search engine advertisers. Utilizing powerful predictive technology and completely anonymous customer response patterns, the company connects advertisers with consumers across multiple channels, including email, search, mobile, domains and social networks. With more than 60 terabytes of anonymous consumer interest data, the company's proprietary targeting systems run more than 20 billion calculations per day to determine what ad to show to each consumer. More than 10,000 advertisers use Adknowldge to promote their offers.
