The Tilford Group is a research and development group consisting of inter- disciplinary faculty, administrators, and students who are developing a multicultural curriculum model to facilitate the total student experience.

The Tilford Group

The Tilford Group has identified multicultural competencies and learning objectives needed by Kansas State University students to live and work in a diverse world. The Tilford Group formed partnerships with business and industry to research diversity practices and policies. Linkages with business and industry are critical if we are to:

  1. understand the diversity training process;
  2. identify multicultural competencies and learning objective; and
  3. develop curriculum goals that reflect the total student experience.

The KSU Tilford Group is an outgrowth of the statewide Michael Tilford (Kansas Regents) Conference on Diversity and Multiculturalism which began in 1994 and was named in honor of the former Dean of the Graduate School at Wichita State University.

Since 1997, the KSU Tilford Group has been developing a multidimensional initiative, with a primary focus on identifying multicultural competencies needed by KSU graduates.
