I am an assistant professor in the  Department of Political Science at Kansas State University. I teach courses in Middle East Politics, Islam and Politics, Comparative Politics, and Advanced Quantitative Methods.

My research focuses on religion, attitudes, and political behavior. I am especially interested in issues of Islam and democracy, political Islam, religion and democratic attitudes as well as civic  engagement in the Middle East and Muslim World. I also specialize in Turkish politics.

I am the principal investigator of  
Turkish Parliamentarians Study  (2003-2004) and Youth Attitudes about Turkish Foreign Policy: An Experimental Study (2010, funded by CUBAP). 
I have created two datasets  from the surveys conducted for these projects.The data from these surveys are avialable upon request.
