AERO DESIGN TEAM
2004 marks the 4th year of competition for the KSU SAE Aero Design Team. In 2003 we place 3rd at Aero Design East and 8th at Aero Design West. The team has been busy this semester preparing for the upcoming competitions. A few of the tasks we have completed this year include:
1. Writing a takeoff simulation using MATLAB. This simulation allows us to predict takeoff performance while varying several aircraft characteristics.
2. Collection of takeoff data on last year's aircraft. This data was used to validate the takeoff simulation code.
3. We have our fuselage frame designed as well as our wing structure.
4. We provided valet parking for the Engineering Ball/Seaton Society Banquet to raise funds for aircraft materials. We have also been busy informing alumni of the team in hopes of recruiting sponsors.
The team plans to compete in both the Aero Design East and West competitions again this year. East will be held April 16-18, 2004 and West is June 18-20, 2004. For more information on the SAE Aero Design Competitions, click here.
