Workbook entries (after viewing the video and the supportive resources)

1. Your child as an adult: What would you stand for?

Let’s assume that you have children. Imagine them growing older and older until they are adults, no longer living at home. Let’s say a friend of your adult child approaches him or her and asks, “As you think back to your childhood, what did your mother and father stand for? What difference did they make in your life because he or she was your mother or your father? What did you learn from this person?”

Your adult child pauses for a moment to think before responding. Now imagine how you would hope he or she would respond to that friend. Imagine the conversation. What you hope he or she would say.

In your workbook, write what you hope your adult child would say.

2. Your core principles: Your ethical compass

Complete the Self-Guided Core Values Assessment at The Center for Ethical Leadership. Are any of your top five core values (principles) found in your first workbook entry? Keep in mind that core values focus on a single meaningful word. Core principles are based on action that puts the value to work.
