#30 Help with frustrating tasks
Basic, ages 2-18
When children become frustrated to the point of losing control, provide just enough help to solve the problem. Give them a dose of encouragement with the help.

Examples:
Susan (3 years) is becoming increasingly frustrated with tying her shoelaces. Mother praises Susan's effort and helps her to finish.
Sarah (16 years) is having difficulty with a permanent. Mother notices her frustration, gives her a few kind words, and offers to help.
