Tool #13. Provide reassuring routines

Difficulty: Intermediate Type: Prevention Ages: 2-16
Definition:
Children sometimes misbehave because of stressful changes in their lives. When their routine is disturbed, provide children with dependable, reassuring experiences.

Examples:
bulletParents take the time to eat breakfast with their young grade schooler. Before she leaves for school, one or both of the parents give her a hug.
bulletEvery evening, before his son goes to sleep, father reads a bedtime story.
bulletFather takes his teenage daughter out to lunch at least once a week.
