Tool #12. Move physically closer

Difficulty: Advanced Type: Prevention Ages: 2-18
Definition:
When children may lose self-control and misbehave, move near them. This physical presence may reduce the temptation to misbehave. Your presence should be warm and friendly.

Examples:
bulletThe parents of a 15-year-old are concerned about alcohol being brought to her party. They remain home during the party and are visible while being careful not to intrude.
bulletFather asks his daughter to do her homework at the kitchen table while he washes dishes.
