Vice President for Student Life

Outstanding Graduate Staff Member 

Purpose of Award

The Outstanding Graduate Student Staff Member Award, presented by the Division of Student Life Staff Engagement Committee, recognizes one full-time graduate student in the Division of Student Life who has had exemplary performance in their role.

Eligibility

The award is given to a staff member who is currently employed within the Division of Student Life at Kansas State University and is currently enrolled in graduate school full-time.

Criteria for Nomination

The nominee must:

  • Perform all aspects of the job in an exemplary manner, i.e. highest job performance of all comparable staff.
  • Display exceptional skills in completion of all job duties and assignments.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion through advocacy and involvement.
  • Contribute to the institution and institutional goals, i.e. K-State 2025, through programs and service.
  • Seek to improve the lives of students through thoughtful and creative programs, problem solving, and engagement.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to their professional career and one’s own professional development, as demonstrated through participation in training sessions, workshops, and conferences.
  • Contribute to the retention and graduation of students.

Nomination Procedure

The nomination procedure will include:

  • All department heads, staff and students are welcomed to nominate a deserving staff member for this award. All units within the Division are encouraged to submit at least one nominee.
  • A selection committee of members from the Division of Student Life Staff Engagement Committee will review the submitted nominations.

Fully completed nominations must include:

  • Completed nomination form
  • One (1) nomination letter describing how the nominee specifically meets the criteria for nomination listed above.
  • One (1) letter of support from a current K-State colleague or supervisor with knowledge of the nominee’s work.
  • Any supporting documentation of the nominee’s work with students that relates to the criteria for nomination listed above.

Please Note: No self-nominations will be accepted; previous winners will not be considered.  

Outstanding Unclassified New Professional 

Purpose of Award

The Outstanding Unclassified New Professional Award, presented by the Division of Student Life Staff Engagement Committee, recognizes one full-time professional in the Division who has had exemplary performance in their role.

Eligibility

The award is given to a staff member who is currently employed within the Division of Student Life at Kansas State University and has been employed within the Division of Student Life for a minimum of one (1) year, but no more than three (3) years.

Criteria for Nomination

The nominee must:

  • Perform all aspects of the job in an exemplary manner, i.e. highest job performance of all comparable staff.
  • Display exceptional skills in completion of all job duties and assignments.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion through advocacy and involvement.
  • Contribute to the institution and institutional goals, i.e. K-State 2025, through programs and service.
  • Seek to improve the lives of students through thoughtful and creative programs, problem solving, and engagement.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to their professional career and one’s own professional development, as demonstrated through participation in training sessions, workshops, and conferences.

The Outstanding Unclassified Professional Award, presented by the Division of Student Life Staff Engagement Committee, recognizes one full-time professional in the Division who has had exemplary performance in their role.

Eligibility

The award is given to a staff member who is currently employed within the Division of Student Life at Kansas State University and has been employed within the Division of Student Life for a minimum of four (4) or more years.

Criteria for Nomination

The nominee must:

  • Perform all aspects of the job in an exemplary manner, i.e. highest job performance of all comparable staff.
  • Display exceptional skills in completion of all job duties and assignments.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion through advocacy and involvement.
  • Contribute to the institution and institutional goals, i.e. K-State 2025, through programs and service.
  • Seek to improve the lives of students through thoughtful and creative programs, problem solving, and engagement.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to their professional career and one’s own professional development, as demonstrated through participation in training sessions, workshops, and conferences.
  • Contribute to the retention and graduation of students.
