Future teachers recognized for excellence

Kansas State University's College of Education recognized seven outstanding undergraduates with awards at the college's May 2012 commencement ceremony.

Two students received the Outstanding Future Teacher Award, presented to graduating seniors who have demonstrated outstanding potential as future teachers. Five students earned the college's Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award, which is presented to graduates who have demonstrated outstanding undergraduate work.

Students earning awards included:

Nicolette May, bachelor's graduate in elementary education, Colwich, Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award; Rebecca Wallisch, bachelor's graduate in elementary education, Goddard, Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award.

From Manhattan: Elizabeth Disbrow, bachelor's graduate in secondary education-mathematics, Outstanding Future Teacher Award for Secondary Education; and Carmen Wilson, bachelor's graduate in secondary education-modern languages, Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award.

From Overland Park: Allison Budke, bachelor's graduate in elementary education, Outstanding Future Teacher Award for Elementary Education; and Sarah Satterlee, bachelor's graduate in elementary education, Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award.

Regan Niehaus, bachelor's graduate in elementary education, Topeka, Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award.
