Designing excellence: College of Architecture, Planning and Design ranks among best in nation

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

For yet another year, the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State University continues to have highly ranked design programs.

DesignIntelligence magazine ranked three of the college's programs among the Top 10 programs in the nation, and five among the Top 15, according to the newly released "America's Best Architecture and Design Schools 2013" issue.

"The consistency of the rankings for our college's programs are reflective of their continued quality," said Tim de Noble, dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design. "These rankings are indicative both of the rigor and excellence of our programs, as well as the success of the alumni who have graduated from our college. Although bachelor's degrees are no longer being offered by the college, the rankings clearly show the value of the graduates of all of our programs to design firms across the nation and the world."

The DesignIntelligence data is compiled by surveying professional practice leaders about which schools are best preparing students for successful careers in the design professions. A total of 392 professional practice organizations participated in the research for the 2013 rankings.

The interior architecture and product design program is the highest ranked graduate program at a public university in the nation. All three of the college's design programs -- architecture, landscape architecture, and interior architecture and product design -- were ranked in the top six nationally among graduate programs at public universities.

The College of Architecture, Planning and Design's graduate programs are accredited five-year master's programs, meaning students can come directly from high school and graduate five years later with a professional master's degree.
