Recognizing excellence: Multicultural Honor Society inducts new members

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

An organization that recognizes the academic achievements of multicultural students at Kansas State University has new members.

"The Multicultural Student Honor Society was founded in 1999 to honor multicultural students who have been successful academically at the university," said Carla Jones, assistant vice president and senior associate dean of students. Jones also serves as the honor society's adviser.

"This special honor society is one of only a few such organizations in the nation with this specific purpose, and the K-State organization stands as the model for other universities," Jones said.

The honor society recognizes students who have persisted to the sophomore year, with 45 hours and beyond, and who have a cumulative university grade point average of at least 3.0

"Transfer students at the sophomore level who have completed at least one semester at K-State are also eligible," Jones said.
