Dear K-State family,

We are fortunate to be the university of choice for people from a variety of backgrounds — not just race, ethnic and nationality differences but gender identities, sexual preferences, religious, rural and urban backgrounds and so many more. Since the university's inception, we have celebrated and welcomed our differences as it gives everyone a chance to understand multiple perspectives and strengthens educational programs.

The university started the KSUnite movement to define who we are for ourselves and show that although national unrest may test us, it will not overcome us. We are planning the university's third KSUnite for Wednesday, Nov. 6, to once again reaffirm the university's pledge to foster an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.

Providing students, faculty and staff with time and place to share and learn from one another has never been more important in preparing our students for global careers. Education at K-State must extend beyond the classroom. As in past years, formal classes will be canceled from 12:30-3:30 p.m. so the university can come together, celebrate our diversity and learn from one another in a relaxed setting.

More information about the day's activities will be shared as the KSUnite planning committee confirms speakers and events. Please mark the date on your calendars and class syllabi. We look forward to continuing this event another year.

Sincerely,

Richard Myers, president

Charles Taber, provost and executive vice president

Bryan Samuel, chief diversity and inclusion officer
