Submitted by Communications and Marketing

The Delta Sigma Phi chapter at Kansas State University has been awarded the Pyramid of Excellence award by the fraternity's national headquarters.

The award is the highest award presented to Delta Sigma Phi chapters nationwide and it recognizes those chapters that have been judged the most outstanding in all areas of chapter operations and programming.

"Delta Sigma Phi is extremely proud of the men of the Kansas State University chapter," said Scott Wiley, executive director. "The chapter continuously goes above and beyond fraternity requirements to be the best possible chapter they can."

The Kansas State University chapter achieved 95 precent retention last school year. They also not only surpassed Kansas State University's all men's GPA of 2.9, but also the all-campuses average of 3.0. The men of K-State's chapter have done a tremendous amount of work for the American Red Cross and assisted in the creation of an engagement initiative called Speak to the Greeks -- encouraging people to be involved in the Red Cross event.

"The award is a testament to the contributions of all our men, from dynamic recruitment efforts and hard work in the classroom, to serving our community and leading organizations across campus," said Jake Pritchard, chapter president.

The chapter was installed Jan. 30, 1925, at the university The first chapter was founded on Dec. 10, 1899, at the City College of New York. Nationally, Delta Sigma Phi currently has initiated more than 115,000 men since its founding.
