Electric cars, smart grid and more: Electrical Power Affiliates Program Day to feature experts, corporate representatives

Submitted by Chastidy Nichols

All are invited to attend K-State’s Electrical Power Affiliates Program Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, in the engineering atrium between Rathbone and Fiedler Halls.

Corporate representatives from the program will be in attendance including: Burns & McDonnell, Kansas City Power & Light, Nebraska Public Power District, Omaha Public Power District, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Sega and Westar Energy. Technical and human resources representatives from the companies will also be in attendance to discuss career opportunities and collaborations with students as well as present in many engineering classes throughout the day. Students are encouraged to sign up for mock interviews with the seven companies through their accounts with career and employment services. There will also be a free lunch at noon on Wednesday and prizes given away throughout the day.

New to the program's events this year will be an intern panel and networking session at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 in Paslay Auditorium, Rathbone Hall. The panel participants will discuss the experiences they had during their internships. All engineering students interested in internship possibilities are welcome. After the panel there will be a networking session in the engineering atrium as well as free pizza.
