Assist with voter registration

Submitted by Kaitlin Long

Tuesday, Nov. 6, is election day, and the K-State and Manhattan communities are collaborating to register individuals to vote. The League of Women Voters, along with K-State Votes — a coalition of K-State departments including communication studies, Student Governing Association, the Center for Engagement and Community Development, and the Staley School of Leadership Studies — are working together on voter registration efforts. If you are interested in assisting with voter registration efforts, you are invited to attend one of two volunteer trainings this week. The dates and times are below.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Manhattan Public Library, 629 Poyntz Ave. This event is come-and-go — stop by at any time between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to visit with members of the League of Women Voters.
  • Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. in the Wildcat Chamber at the K-State Student Union. The League of Women Voters will conduct a second training during Open Period of the Sept. 20 Student Senate meeting. Dress is business casual. The meeting and training begin at 7 p.m.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer for voter registration efforts, please contact HandsOn Kansas State at handson@k-state.edu.

K-State Votes is coordinating voter registration on Sept. 25, National Voter Registration Day, and will have booths across the K-State campus where individuals can register to vote. More information regarding specific dates and times will be released next week.
