Natural resources and environmental science students to present research projects

Students in the natural resources and environmental sciences secondary major capstone course will discuss the findings from their semesterlong interdisciplinary research projects from 9:40-11:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, in 328 Waters Hall.

Student researchers this semester come from seven different majors within the Colleges of Agriculture, Arts and Sciences, and Engineering.

Three projects will be presented in seminar and scientific poster formats, including "Influences of Nutrient Accumulation, Sedimentation Loading, and Organic Matter on Water Quality in Marion County"; "Marion County Park and Lake Sediment and Water Quality Study"; and "Identification of Sediment Sources in the Tributaries of Marion County Park and Lake to Develop Future Erosion Management Plan." Student work has been supervised this semester by faculty advisors John Harrington, Jr., geography; Vahid Rahmani, biological and agricultural engineering; and Abigail Langston, geography.

The presentations are open to the public. Undergraduate students interested in natural resources, environmental science, and sustainability issues are especially encouraged to attend. The natural resources and environmental sciences secondary major is open to all Kansas State University students and is supported by the Office of the Provost, College of Agriculture, College of Arts and Sciences, and biological and agricultural engineering department.
