Stop the Bleed Training offered Dec. 1

Submitted by Human Capital Services-Learning and Development

Representatives from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment trauma program will be on campus on Dec. 1 to teach students, faculty, and staff specific stop the bleed lifesaving skills.

No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop the blood loss. Those nearest to someone with life-threatening injuries are best positioned to provide first care. According to a recent National Academies of Science study, trauma is the leading cause of death for Americans under age 46. Stop the Bleed training teaches you proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use your hands, dressings and tourniquets to save someone's life or your own.

Stop the Bleed training, EHS101, will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 1 in the Edwards Hall commons area.

To register for this session, you can either sign up through HRIS self-service or send an email to learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, employee ID and the course title specifying the date.
