Housing contracts for next fall proving popular

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Wefald Hall

Early indications show a positive trend for the 2018-2019 school year at Kansas State University: Housing contracts are up from this time last year.

"We had 580 completed contracts submitted online by 11 a.m. Nov. 1, the first day the university started accepting housing contracts for the next school year," said Derek Jackson, assistant vice president for student life and director of housing and dining services at K-State. "This is way ahead of last year."

The hectic pace did cause the server to crash briefly, but Jackson said the system is working smoothly now.

While the pace of contracts being submitted has slowed over the past few days, Jackson said the university is working with informational technology staff to simplify the webpage used for the process and help it load more quickly.

"If you know you will be attending K-State next fall and want to live in one of our residence halls, we encourage you to complete your housing contract as soon as possible," Jackson said. "You are more likely to land a room in the residence hall of your choice the sooner you submit the contract."

K-State's residence halls have a national reputation for excellence, ranking among the top 20 in the nation according to the Princeton Review.
