Dining Services introduces 'Cultivate You' program

Submitted by Erin Hildreth

K-State Dining Services has introduced a new program called "Cultivate You." The program promotes wellness, sustainability and community through the food and services provided. Each month, a program will be offered that will focus on topics like local produce, whole grains, diverse beverages, ethnic cuisines and more. Cultivate You menus will be served Monday-Friday during lunch at the following dining centers:

  • Derby Dining — Classics Serving Line.
  • Kramer Dining — The Plate Serving Line.
  • Van Zile Dining — Pizza Serving Line.

During September, Cultivate You focused on the Better Beginnings Breakfast Bar and salad bar, and Dining Services' commitment to fresh ingredients and sustainability. The two bars offer items such as yogurt parfait fixings, oatmeal bowls, vegetable burritos, hummus plates and many popular salad items. Presentations about the offerings at the bars will take place during the Cultivate You Better Beginnings and Salad Bar Bonanza presentations at noon on the following days:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Van Zile Dining Center.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Kramer Dining Center.
  • Thursday, Sept. 28, at Derby Dining Center.

In October, students will see messages and presentations on hydration. You can read more about the Cultivate You topics on the Housing and Dining Services website.

Remember, you're in charge of the foods you choose to eat and great choices are available to you!
