Leading the way: Student Foundation selects officers and K-State Proud co-chairs

A student group that promotes philanthropy at Kansas State University has selected eight students to serve as its officers and two students to be co-chairs of the K-State Proud Campaign.
Members of the K-State Student Foundation are ambassadors of philanthropy for the university and focus on raising awareness among current students and alumni about the importance of giving back to K-State as well as cultivating philanthropy across the university.
"We are proud to welcome the new officers and co-chairs and thank them for stepping into leadership roles," said Mindy Weixelman, senior director of annual giving and student programs at the Kansas State University Foundation. "The K-State Student Foundation is built on the philosophy of showing appreciation and the impact of philanthropic support. We’re excited to see everything they accomplish as they continue developing a culture of student philanthropy at K-State."
Sponsored by the KSU Foundation, the student foundation works with foundation staff and volunteers to fulfill the mission of uniting philanthropic desires with university priorities. Student foundation consists of 35 members who participate in a variety of activities, including alumni interaction, professional development, stewardship phone calls, campus hosts, and scholarship management and awarding. They coordinate the K-State Proud student campaign, which has raised more than $550,000 for K-State Proud Student Opportunity Awards over the past six years.
Members also plan and coordinate Senior Sidewalk, a program that offers graduates an opportunity to commemorate their legacy at K-State by purchasing a granite stone to be placed along the Memorial Stadium sidewalk from the Alumni Center to Ahearn Field House.
The K-State Student Foundation officers and K-State Proud co-chairs include:
Kyle Reynolds, junior in mass communications, Andover, K-State Proud co-chair; Chris Kellenbarger, sophomore in entrepreneurship, Derby, vice president of student campaigns; Megan Barnett, junior in anthropology, Hutchinson, vice president of alumni; Abbey Brown, junior in human resources and entrepreneurship, Topeka, president; Brett Seidl, sophomore in public relations, Valley Center, vice president of students; and Hope Faflick, freshman in political science, Wichita, secretary.
From out-of-state: Javier Lopez, sophomore in history, San Francisco, Calif., K-State Proud co-chair; and Aaron Bisch, junior in architecture, St. Louis, Mo., vice president of membership.
Philanthropic contributions to K-State are coordinated by the Kansas State University Foundation. The foundation staff works with university partners to build lifelong relationships with alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students through involvement and investment in the university.
