Amazing Race Finish 2016

K-State's Center on Aging will celebrate national Careers in Aging Week April 2-8. Events include a career panel, memory symposium and the Amazing Careers in Aging Race. All events are free.

Careers in Aging Week events:

• Join the center for a career panel presentation and open Q-and-A session at the Gerontology Club at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, in 149 Justin Hall. Hear from local professionals in the community and learn about their careers in aging. This is great a opportunity for students to make professional contacts.

• The Memory Matters Symposium will be 5-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, at the Bluemont Hotel's Hartford Room. They symposium will include speakers Jeffery Burns, director of the University of Kansas Alzheimer's Disease Center, and Natalie Douglas, speech-language pathologist. Learn more about dementia and Alzheimer's, including how it impacts our daily lives, current research and methods to help improve communication with those affected by dementia and/or Alzheimer's.

• Students are invited to participate in the Amazing Careers in Aging Race from 4-6 p.m. Friday, April 7. Teams of four will learn about different careers in aging as they complete a race similar to CBS's "Amazing Race," competing for cool prizes. Two teams will be winners. Race participants can be any K-State student; you do not need to be involved in gerontology to participate. Free snacks and drinks will be provided after the race. Sign up to participate at the Center on Aging, 253 Justin Hall.
