Guest speaker to discuss endowing machines with creative behavior

Submitted by Carlos Castellanos

Philippe Pasquier, associate professor in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University, will present at the next Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous, or LASER, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at the Beach Museum of Art.

Pasquier conducts both a scientific and artistic research agenda. His research focuses on building deeper theories for endowing machines with autonomous behaviours, with a focus on creative and artistic applications.

The LASERs are a national program of evening gatherings that bring artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversation with an audience. The Leonardo International Society for the Arts, Science and Technology; DX Media Program, art department and the College of Arts and Sciences invite you to a meeting of the Leonardo ArtScience community.

The event is free and open to the public. The agenda includes some presentations of art/science projects, news from the audience and time for casual socializing and networking.
