K-State students perform at international percussive arts society international convention

Submitted by Kurt Gartner

Three K-State students recently performed at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jeremey Reynolds, junior in music education, and Tyler Miller, freshman in music education, performed on the session "Learning Dagara Gyil: World Percussion Lab for Dagara Xylophone Music." The session was led by Bernard Woma, founder and director of the Dagara Music Center in Ghana, West Africa.

For many years, Woma has collaborated with the K-State dance and music programs facilitated by Neil Dunn, instructor of dance and music, and Julie Pentz, associate professor of dance.

Kirstyn Norris, senior in applied music, performed in a clinic session with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. Norris toured with the group on the Drum Corps International circuit in summer 2016.
