On board: New officers for Kansas State University Foundation begin two-year terms

Kansas State University alumni from Beloit and Arlington, Va., are the new chair and vice chair, respectively, of the Kansas State University Foundation's board of directors.

The foundation is the official fundraising organization for the university and is governed by a volunteer board of trustees. A 15-member board of directors elected from the membership of the trustees meets quarterly to consider strategic and policy issues, and is authorized to act on the trustees' behalf.

Curt Frasier, Beloit, began a two-year term March 16 as chair of the foundation board. Frasier earned a bachelor's degree in animal sciences and industry from K-State in 1973 and received his juris doctorate from Washburn University, Topeka, in 1976. He is a partner of the law firm Frasier and Johnson LLC in Beloit and has served on the board of directors since 2006.

Richard Myers, Arlington, will serve as vice chair of the board of directors. Myers earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from K-State in 1965. He is a retired four-star general in the U.S. Air Force and served as the 15th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He has been a member of the board of directors since 2007.

John Allen, bachelor's degree in accounting, 1974, and Kevin Lockett, treasurer of the board of trustees, bachelor's degree in business administration, 1996, both from Leawood; Lee Borck, bachelor's degree in agricultural economics, 1970, and Amy Button Renz, bachelor's degree in political science in 1976 and master's degree in public administration in 1986, both from Manhattan; Charlie Chandler, bachelor's degree in business administration, 1975, and Randy Coonrod, vice chairman of the board of trustees, bachelor's degree in civil engineering, 1974, both from Wichita.

Janet Ayres, Scottsdale, Ariz., secretary of the foundation's board of trustees, bachelor's degree in physical education, 1970; Mike Goss, Westport, Conn., bachelor's degree in economics, 1981; Bill Sanford, Naples, Fla., bachelor's degree in biological sciences, 1965; Stephen Lacy, Des Moines, Iowa, bachelor's degree in accounting in 1976 and master's in business administration in 1977; Sharon Evers, St. Joseph, Mo., bachelor's degree in modern languages, 1967; Rand Berney, Bartlesville, Okla., bachelor's degree in accounting, 1977; and Carl Ice, Westlake, Texas, bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, 1979.

Ex officio members of the board of directors are: Kirk Schulz, president, Kansas State University; Fred Cholick, president and CEO of the Kansas State University Foundation; April Mason, provost and senior vice president, Kansas State University; John Currie, director of athletics for Kansas State University; and Pat Koons, president of the Livestock and Meat Industry Council.

Philanthropic contributions to the university are coordinated by the Kansas State University Foundation. The foundation staff works with university partners to build lifelong relationships with alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students through involvement and investment in the university.
