K-State Student Union celebrates 60th anniversary

The K-State Student Union is gearing up for its 60th anniversary celebration May 4 at the Union and on Bosco Student Plaza.

The Union opened its doors in 1956, and has since been the host to the K-State campus and Manhattan community. Often referred to as the "campus living room," the Union has provided space and resources to many campus organizations, meetings, lectures, events, activist movements and countless other student-centered activities.

Though students voted in favor of the Union decades ago, the vision behind the purpose and functions of the Union has stayed the same: to accommodate student needs, to provide a safe space for students, faculty, staff and visitors alike to gather and for the Union to be the heart and hub of campus. While the Union has been modified physically since being founded in 1956, including the recent Your Union Renovation that began in September 2015, the original ideals on which the Union was founded have been at the focal point throughout the process. The Union has and will continue to remain open during the renovation, to continue to serve the needs of K-State.

Please join faculty, staff and students from across campus in the celebration. From special pricing and menus at the Wabash Cannon Bowl and food trucks, to free Call Hall ice cream, T-shirts, band performances, magician acts and even camel rides, this is not an event to be missed!
